Episode 7 – Social Work Month
An Interview with Susie Baker, LCSW, ACHP-SW
I met Susie when I was an intern at Seasons Hospice in 2018. She is intelligent, thoughtful, and full of joy. She made a positive impression on me when I first met her. I was especially impressed by her wisdom and empathy in working with our hospice patients. Age does not always equal wisdom, and Susie is wise beyond her years.
She and I talk a lot about the importance of a collaborative, team approach when working with clients/patients, whether it is hospice, a hospital, or a school. We are always at our best when we work together, each using our own unique skill set.
I hope you enjoy listening to our conversation as much as I enjoyed talking with Susie!
Jill’s Audio Journal
Mark and I talk about an excerpt from my audio journal, recorded back in November of 2018. I share some of my frustrations in trying to convince facilities and hospice companies that music therapy is much more than “fun and volunteer entertainment.”
Talking with Susie on the podcast brings me great joy and encouragement to realize that there are advocates and colleagues out there that are communicating the value and importance of music therapy in collaboration with healthcare teams.
Friends Fun Trivia!
I like to end the show with a segment that is purely my own guilty pleasure – a clip from Friends. It’s a fun excuse for me to hear from you. :) It’s simple: click here, record your name, where you’re from, and the answer to the trivia question. If you are one of the first of three people to call in with the correct answer, you will receive a prize in the mail!
Take a listen and share your answer to the question that I ask at the end of the episode. I would love to hear your voice and send you a surprise in the mail.
