Coping with a COVID-19 Environment
Everyone is creating resources to help all of us get through this period of sheltering in place and social distancing. So I thought I would add my voice to the creative conversation from a music therapy perspective. Here is my contribution for parents, caregivers, and people experiencing anxiety or depression without their regular routine and the physical connection of their friends.
Oh boy, we had fun with this one! Hope you enjoy singing along on this catchy tune from the movie Benny and Joon.
Check out our latest Van Jam - Upside Down by Jack Johnson! We may have had a little too much fun making this video. :)
This is a family favorite by April Smith - including a surprise instrument played by the family about halfway through the video. Enjoy jamming with us!
Here’s another Van Jam, but this time it has our whole family in it! I hope this song brings joy and hope to you as you hear the words, “The Joy of the Lord is my STRENGTH!”
We are excited to share our first official Van Jam: Be Ok by Ingrid Michaelson. The words of this song are especially fitting, given our current situation - “I just wanna be ok today.” Enjoy our own unique version. :)
As I’ve been brainstorming ideas to share with THMTS fans, all that kept coming to mind was fun/weird music to make you smile. We’ll see what you think of this series. We call it #vanjams, and we’re excited to publish our first video. Hope you enjoy it cuz it will be the intro for the videos to come! :) Jam with me and my fam in our van!
I love memes, jokes, funny pics, emojis! Share your favorites with me, and I’ll post them on my website!
My kids love arts and crafts, and I love when they find things that they can do independently. My oldest daughter found some cute things to make, and I’m excited to share a video of her doing some “show and tell.”
My girls and I love to color, and we love animals in particular, so I found some animal coloring pages to share with you! If you want to work on mindfulness with your kids, it’s a fun exercise to encourage everyone to color in silence, focusing on breathing and letting thoughts come in and out of your mind effortlessly.
I had the privilege of contributing a couple of videos for Advantage Hospice. They’re putting together a video for our patients in honor of Memorial Day. Katelyn and I enjoyed singing

We love this song, and even better, we love the theme of this van jam! Try everything, knowing that we’ll make mistakes, but we’ll make new mistakes all the time - learning from our experiences.
