Music Therapy Happy Hour

I learned a lot from my music therapy colleagues at our last Zoom Happy Hour. I offer a time to meet virtually once a month – for connection and learning together. Though a small group this past month, we engaged in a meaningful conversation centered on cultural diversity and how to better serve our diverse client base.

I was excited that a music therapy intern joined us all the way from Indonesia! While we were at the end of our day, he woke up early in order to join us. He shared some of the challenges he faces in trying to reach clients who speak a variety of languages and dialects.

It can be a daunting task when we try to best connect with clients who all have unique and diverse backgrounds. I was reminded by my colleagues this past month that we will stay relevant if we are humble, always asking how to better learn from and understand our clients.

I look forward to meeting with familiar and new faces at our next zoom happy hour on Friday, March 12!
