Client Spotlight: Wendy from Meadowbrook Village

For the month of September, I am pleased to introduce you to Wendy at Meadowbrook Village in Escondido, CA!

I met Wendy in January of this year when I did a music therapy session in the Skilled Nursing (Oasis) portion of the facility. I knew within our first interaction that Wendy demonstrated quality character; it isn’t every day that you find an activities director providing music therapy for skilled nursing residents. That first session led to many more, and I am pleased to say that Meadowbrook Village: Oasis is one of my ongoing, twice-a-month clients. I have the privilege of doing music therapy with Skilled Nursing and Memory Care every month, and I have loved getting to know the residents, facility staff, and some of their family members as well!!

Wendy began working at Meadowbrook as the Assistant to the Memory Care Activities Director in 2017 and is now the Activities Director of Skilled Nursing and Memory Care. She tells me how she experiences joy by not only providing a safe and secure environment for her residents, but also by providing a variety of crafts, games, and musical activities that bring joy to her residents and their families.

Wendy shares what inspires her to provide music therapy and other activities to her residents:

“It is a joy to see the residents sing along, play instruments, and tap their toes. It makes their day. This job can be emotionally overwhelming because I’m unable to change their circumstances, but it brings a smile to my face when I know that I’m a part of putting one on theirs. I am blessed to be a part of their lives in a meaningful way.”

I am blessed to be a part of their lives.

Seeing Wendy truly love her residents and the work that she does inspires me. I look forward to my music therapy sessions at Meadowbrook Village — not only because I sincerely love the residents, but because Wendy’s passion rubs off on everyone she interacts with.

Thank you, Wendy, for making a difference in the lives at Meadowbrook Village and for partnering with Transformational Health Music Therapy Services by providing compassionate, holistic care!
