I met Teri last spring to talk about incorporating music therapy into her activities program at Plymouth Village: The Lodge. I appreciated her sincerity in wanting to provide the best experiences for her residents. We set up a “trial” session, and I have been doing music therapy at The Lodge once a month ever since! Our sessions are meaningful and a lot of fun. We sing and talk about anything and everything, and I am grateful for the opportunity to share music with them in a therapeutic setting.

Teri spent a year volunteering at Plymouth Village, and in that time, she realized that working with seniors gave her purpose and passion. Teri shared with me, “I prayed for an opening where my skills and talents might be utilized, and the Activity Coordinator position became available!” The rest is history; she has been working as the Activity Coordinator for a little over a year and is loving it.

Teri says that she is blessed to work with residents who make her smile every day. They are grateful and thankful for everything she does on a daily basis, and that makes her feel honored to be a part of their lives.

I can relate to Teri when she quotes the old saying: “If you do what you love for a living, you will never work a day in your life.” Hmmm, I wonder if I could come up with a theme song based on that quote for the residents at Plymouth Village. :)

If you do what you love for a living, you will never work a day in your life.
